40. 「박철수의 거주 박물지」는 건축학자가 서울을 중심으로 한 거주 문화사를 소개한 책이다. 아파트가 어떻게 중산층의 표준 욕망이 됐는가, 장독이 왜 아파트에서 사라졌는가와 같은 물음들을 도면과 신문기사를 곁들여 풀어내는 식이다. 그 과정에서 이웃과 정을 나누는 일없이 각박하게 살아온 지난 수십 년의 세태를 지적하는 것도 놓치지 않고 있다. 무엇보다 독자들이 더 흥미롭게 읽을 수 있도록 문답의 형식으로 구성된 것이 돋보인다. 이웃과 정답게 살아가는 모습을 그려내고자 하는 미래의 건축학도에게 추천하고 싶다.
